Uber entered a partnership with BYD to deploy 100,000 electric vehicles across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Uber also recently entered into a partnership with the Chinese carmaker BYD to introduce 100,000 electric vehicles onto its platform in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
It comes as Uber attempts to convince its drivers to switch to electric vehicles, with the company aiming to have all its rides made by zero-emission vehicles by 2040.

To help incentivize its drivers to make the transition away from gas as quickly as possible, the company invested $800 million in introducing a slew of new initiatives, such as paying Uber drivers higher rates for EV trips.
At the event on Tuesday, Mr Khosrowshahi outlined how Uber has seen the number of EVs on its platform increase from 10,000 four years ago to 182,000 globally, with half a billion zero emissions trips completed and green rides now available in 32 countries.

Uber will invest up to $1.25 billion over five years in Rivian for a fully autonomous fleet available exclusively through Uber's platform.
Uber is set to make an investment with a ceiling of $1.25 billion in Rivian for the next five years, according to the release, in the aim of “a scaled, fully-autonomous fleet of Rivian R2 robotaxis, which will be available exclusively through the Uber platform.”
