Albertsons donated 92 million pounds of food in 2023 as part of its hunger-relief programs.
The group said Albertsons has touted its goal of sending zero food waste to landfills by 2030 in its environmental, social and governance reports over the last few years.
What Albertsons says: Albertsons said it tracks a variety of food waste-related metrics in its latest Recipe for Change report, including that it diverted over 325 million pounds of food waste from landfills and donated 92 million pounds of food in 2023.

The Albertsons Companies Foundation supports hunger
OVERVIEW: The Albertsons Companies Foundation supports hunger and food security nationally through its flagship Nourishing Neighbors initiative.
As part of "Nourish the American Dream," Albertsons Companies Foundation debuted a national PSA campaign titled "Feed This," highlighting the hunger challenges families face during the summer months and year-round to inspire action during the July 1-7 giving window.
In 2025, along with the Albertsons Companies Foundation, the Company contributed $497 million in food and financial support, including $56 million through its Nourishing Neighbors Program, to ensure those living in its communities and those impacted by disasters have enough to eat.
During fiscal 2022, along with the Albertsons Companies Foundation, we contributed more than $200 million in food and financial support, including more than $40 million through our Nourishing Neighbors program to ensure those living in our communities and those impacted by disasters have enough to eat.
In 2023, along with the Albertsons Companies Foundation, the Company contributed more than $350 million in food and financial support, including more than $35 million through our Nourishing Neighbors Program to ensure those living in our communities and those impacted by disasters have enough to eat.
