THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The Dutch branch of French-based luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton has agreed to pay half a million euros ($595,000) in an out-of-court settlement linked to a money laundering investigation, the Netherlands’ national public prosecution office announced Thursday.
Back in January 2017, shortly before the Inauguration, Arnault met with then President-elect Trump in New York to discuss potentially expanding Louis Vuitton’s production in the U.S., WWD reported at the time.
During that time, Louis Vuitton increased its use of certified raw materials, reduced plastic packaging and expanded renewable energy use across its operations.
Louis Vuitton has reduced energy consumption in its workshops by 30 percent between 2021 and 2025 and increased its use of renewable electricity to 95 percent.

Louis Vuitton identifies network breach
Louis Vuitton identified unauthorized access to its network on June 7, 2025.
The data breach was originally reported to have affected 419,000 customers in South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, Italy and Sweden, but on or around August 22, 2025, Louis Vuitton North America, Inc., reported the data breach to the California Office of the Attorney General, Texas Office of the Attorney General, and the Washington State Office of the Attorney General.
On July 2, 2025, Louis Vuitton identified unauthorized access to its network on June 7, 2025.

Louis Vuitton confirms no payment data breached
Louis Vuitton confirmed no payment information was compromised during the incident.
"Despite all security measures in place, on July 2, 2025, we became aware of a personal data breach resulting from the exfiltration of certain personal data of some of our clients following an unauthorized access to our system," reads Louis Vuitton's data breach notifications sent to customers.
In a statement to BleepingComputer, Louis Vuitton confirmed that no payment information was compromised from the database accessed during the incident.
Luxury fashion giant Louis Vuitton confirmed that breaches impacting customers in the UK, South Korea, and Turkey stem from the same security incident, which is believed to be linked to the ShinyHunters extortion group.
